Black Carpet Beetles are the most widespread carpet beetle and the most dangerous as they can cause great damage to fabrics and destroy your property. These deadly, irritating, scavenger insects can eat cotton, linen, rayon, fur, hair, dead animal materials, woolen products, plant materials, and certain foods that come their way. They can also be found on furniture where they like to feed on padding, hair, and feathers. These pest do fly and are attracted to certain odors and scents, colored flowers and flowering plants near your home. They will enter through doors, windows, and other small openings due to their small size. Carpet Beetles can also migrate to your property from an apartment or home of your neighbor. Larvae can be stored in a newly bought wool rug from a retailer, or a “Great Deal” purchase from your local estate or moving sale! Carpet Beetle larvae can also be found under baseboards, under edges of carpet, around door casings, in upholstery, clothing, blankets, slippers, and in other soft materials that are protected in your home.
